Emily Riehl

A native Richmonder, Emily is excited to return to Virginia and start work as the Shenandoah Valley Organizer. For the past year she has been community organizing with DART affiliates in Florida--Fort Lauderdale and Tallahassee, and working with local churches on issues of affordable housing and police-community relations. She graduated with an International Studies and Music degree from the University of North Carolina (Chapel Hill, of course... Go Tarheels!) in May 2009. "I believe in the power of voices--seemingly disenfranchised and not-- working together to solves serious, systemic problems in our community." And to quote Gandhi: "We must be the change we wish to see in the world." Community organizing is a manifestation of the people doing just that.
