The Virginia Main Street Alliance, an initiative of Virginia Organizing, is a coalition of Virginia small business owners working to build a new voice on issues that matter to our businesses and our communities. Our members include both small employers and self-employed business owners, with a diverse representation of business types, race, gender and geography. We bring small business values into the public dialogue to advance policies that are good for small businesses, our employees and the communities that sustain us.

You can help make health care reform better by sending a short email to your legislators. Go to http://legis.virginia.gov/, click on the “who’s my legislator button” on the top right, enter an address and a page will come up with a button to send an email. The email can be short; tell them you are a small businesses person and that you support setting up a Health Benefits Exchange. Ask them to support HB 357 and SB 383.

The governor has decided that he will NOT be pushing to set up a Health Benefits Exchange or other steps forward on health care reform. Virginia Main Street Alliance Update November 21, 2011
The future of health care reform in Virginia now rests with the Virginia legislature, the General Assembly and Governor McDonnell. The studies are done and now our elected officials will get down to deciding what will be done about health care reform. The governor will propose a plan which the General Assembly will debate, potentially amend, and vote on.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8 IS ELECTION DAY PLEASE VOTE
The Virginia Main Street Alliance will be presenting a 1 hour seminar on health care reform in Virginia on the morning of Thursday November 10 in Norfolk. The event will be at Harbour Place Condominiums, 215 Brooke Ave starting at 8:00 am. A breakfast will be provided.
